About The Counselor

Parents and Students:

My name is Pamela Meadows, and I am excited to be your child's School Counselor this year at Wilson Elementary.  This is my 13th year in the teaching profession.  I was previously employed as a Social Studies Teacher and School Counselor with the Clay County School System.  I had also worked for 5 years, in the mental health field as an Outpatient Counselor with Volunteer Behavioral Health Care at various locations throughout the Upper Cumberland. I attended Tennessee Technological University where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, a Master's of Arts in Counselor Education, and my ED.S. in Instructional Leadership. I have two children, Andrew and Erin.

In my role as School Counselor, it is my job to assist your child in receiving the best education possible.  I will be teaching lessons to grades kindergarten through 8th grade on academic development, social and emotional development, and college and career readiness.  These lessons will build upon many of the things you are already teaching at home such as study skills, manners, and problem solving.  My lessons are based upon the Tennessee State Board of Education School Counseling Standards and the specific needs of our student population.  In addition to these classes I have set aside times for brief (3 or less sessions) of individual and group counseling for academic related issues. Your child's teacher may refer them for help or your child may do a self-referral is they feel the nee d to talk.  The counseling sessions are confidential, meaning that what is said will not be disclosed except in the case of harm/threat to self or others.

If you have a concern about your child please contact me by phone at Wilson Elementary or by email.  If I am unavailable please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as possible.  I look forward to a successful school year working with your child.
